I have been pretty busy this week making things for my slot at the Past-Times shop in Wisbech. I was specifically asked for a small yarn bowl, so I spent this afternoon making this one, which will be delivered tomorrow morning.
The bowl consist of two pieces of beech laminated together; I glued them up yesterday and let them dry slowly overnight in the house rather than the workshop, which is arctic at present. The beech rounds came from different trees, which is why there is a contrast in the colours, and which is why I chose them. The lid is made from a third piece of beech closely matching the top half of the bowl.
The whole thing was finished with Hampshire Sheen embellishing waxes (black, gold, and silver), and given an overcoat of the same company's pen wax for a durable finish.
