These are a few of the things I have been asked to make recently. The yarn bowls were a particular pleasure to make as they challenge one's skills just a little more than turning out an otherwise simple bowl. Getting that slot in just the right place and the right size can be tricky. However, both of these came out beyond my expectations, which is just as well as they are both now with very happy customers.
The seam ripper and needle threader were a special order that came from one of my Numonday customers. The handles have been turned from a single piece of lacewood and therefore closely match. They were finished with a silver enhancing wax to give a slight shimmer in the light, before an overcoat of a hard-wearing pen grade polishing wax.
The crochet hook set is one of three that came about as a result of me being able to rent some shelf space at a new craft store that has opened up nearby. Past-Times is a great place, specialising in hand-made crafts and with an emphasis on knitted or sewn crafts and making. A number of other local makers also now sell through Past-Times, which is situated on the Pondworld Retail Park, Lynn Road, Wisbech, PE14 7DA. Check them out on Facebook! The owner Linda, runs crochet classes and the crochet hooks sets I have made so far are proving popular. The seam rippers, needle threaders and yarn bowls have also made an impact, which is great for both Past-Times and for me, obviously.
This all means that I'm busy in the workshop keeping up with orders for the shop and my Numonday store. Long may it continue, but I'm going to have to do something about the heating out there. The digital thermometer dropped to somewhere below 5C today; the screen just displayed 'low'. Not that it helped - I'd already lost sensation in my toes!
